Mercedes Schiebedach klemmt - Oftmals ist der Seilzug das Problem!

Mercedes sunroof is stuck - The cable is often the problem!

Many Mercedes drivers and workshops are familiar with the problem: the sunroof is stuck and cannot be opened or closed. In addition to simple solutions, such as resetting the control unit as explained in this video, unfortunately it is often due to the mechanism. More specifically, the cable with which the motor operates the sunroof and the guide tube in which the cable runs.

To prevent the cable from hitting the tube from the inside, a series of plastic sleeves are threaded onto the cable. These sleeves push against each other due to wear, mechanical stress and foreign objects in the tube, such as rust, causing the cable to wedge in the tube. This alone would not be the biggest problem if Mercedes at least offered the spare parts. However, a quick look in their spare parts catalog shows that, unfortunately, there are no longer any cables available for many classic car models.

This is where we come in: We have taken up the cause and produce high-quality reproductions of the sun roof cables for many classic Mercedes models (W123, W108, W109, W116, W113, W126 and C107). In our design, we have replaced the prone-to-failure plastic sleeves with durable steel wire. This wire replaces the functionality of the plastic sleeves and at the same time eliminates the associated probability of failure.

If you need a sun roof cable that is not offered by either us or Mercedes, please send us a message. With a usable sample, we can make one for you and expand our product range.
